File System
The File System MCP server enables AI assistants to perform secure filesystem operations within explicitly allowed directories. Implemented in Ruby using the vector_mcp gem, it provides tools for reading, writing, and editing files; creating and listing directories; moving files; searching with glob patterns; and retrieving file metadata. The server implements robust security measures including path validation, symlink resolution, and parent directory checking to prevent unauthorized access outside allowed directories. It's particularly valuable for users who need to manage local files directly through their AI assistant without switching contexts, while maintaining strict security boundaries.
Composite of vulnerability cleanliness, spec conformance, provenance, stability, and usage signals — scanned and weighted by Cognium. Human and agent signals are tracked separately. Last scanned 2026-09-19.
