SMCP Proxy (OIDC)
SMCP-Proxy is a secure reverse proxy for MCP servers that provides authentication and authorization via OIDC. Developed by Kirill Sysoev, it features both server and client components: the server validates OIDC tokens and forwards authenticated requests to configured MCP backends (supporting both HTTP and local subprocess backends), while the client implements client credentials flow to acquire tokens automatically. The implementation supports multiple backend configurations with path-based routing, model information endpoints, and metrics collection. This proxy is particularly valuable for organizations needing to add authentication layers to existing MCP implementations or managing access to multiple AI models through a unified, secure interface.
