# Gallica

> Use this tool when you need to access a vast digital library of French cultural heritage, search and browse through historical documents, or retrieve specific metadata. Gallica solves problems of information discovery and retrieval by providing a simple interface to search, browse, and retrieve documents by various criteria such as title, author, and subject. It takes in queries and ARK identifiers as inputs and returns relevant metadata and documents as outputs.

## Description

Gallica connects AI assistants to the Bibliothèque nationale de France's digital library through the SRU/CQL protocol. Provides three tools for searching by title, author, subject, date, and type; browsing with faceted filters by document type, century, and language; and retrieving complete metadata by ARK identifier. No authentication required.
